On the Road with the Visions!! Inner Visions Reggae Band

St. John, VI: St. John USVI Internationally renowned Reggae Band Inner Visions carried their Love one Another Vibes this summer to the Southern coast of Florida, through the flat plains of Texas on to the West Coast of California (where they met up with the famed record producer – “Scorcher” of Scorcher Music, Inc.) continuing on to the State of Oregon. The final leg of the tour led them to the Coast that is no stranger to the powers of the Visions – the East Coast. The Band having successfully completed the first leg of the "Ride the Waves" Summer 2006 U.S.Tour, will be returning to the U.S. for limited engagements through October 2006.

Perhaps you are one of the few that have not heard of the Inner Visions Reggae Band, do not be distressed, all that means is that you have not yet had the opportunity, to witness a performance by the band that brings the true spirit of Reggae ALIVE. There is still time to get on the Inner Visions “Front Line” and join them for the second leg of the 2006 “Ride the Waves” U.S. Tour.

Inner Visions True Reggae Road Warriors:

Talk about Reggae Road Warriors: Inner Visions Reggae Band most definitely fit this description. In June, it was a privilege to accompany them on the Texas leg of their 2006 tour. I totally forgot how much fun the experience could be, before this trip it had been several years since I actually traveled on the open road with a band; the experience was awesome. We traveled from Dallas heading south to Austin (Flamingo Cantina) last stop San Antonio (Kingston Tycoon Flats) and back, all this with temperatures outside soaring between 100 /102 degrees. It is safe to say that the Reggae road was hot in Texas – the outside temperature not withstanding (natural heat of course), Inner Visions Reggae Band’s heat added degrees to the already high outside temperatures, in the words of Sizzla “more fyah”.

Traveling with the Band helped deepened my appreciation for what they do on a normal day touring, I have now a deeper respect for the road they travel and see first hand the heartfelt dedication they have to providing for their fans great reggae music. The Visions being who they are (Caribbean Reggae Masters) made the road trip very enjoyable, even though it was well over 100 degrees I can honestly say it was cool runnins! I applaud their heartfelt efforts to keep Reggae in a positive light; nothing seems to derail them from their purpose. That is; to provide the best Reggae Rhythms on JAH’s green earth, and this they do very well. Selah!

Fan Reactions:

Inner Visions fans Love them UP! so much so, they actually follow them from venue to venue. This became more apparent as each city the guys would hit in Texas, low and behold, in attendance was some of the same faces we saw the night before; the fans were eagerly showing their support and clearly accepting Inner Visions open invitation to get on the Reggae “Front Line”. What an honor – for the hardest working Reggae Band around! Inner visions most certainly have staying power on the Reggae touring circuit – the dedication of their die hard fans, proves once bitten by the Inner Visions reggae bug, you will surely become a fan forever. Inner Visions deeply appreciates their #1 Texas Fans – Penny Henderson and Alicia McCracken.

Can we talk:

They call him "Mr. Snooze" although I cannot see why. I am left trying to figure out just where Akiba Pickering gets this handle from, there is certainly nothing sleepy about him. To say the least, I was shocked at Akiba’s performance in Austin Texas at the Flamingo Cantina. His performance made me question what happened to the shy young man that usually stays behind the scenes and play keyboards. I was simply astounded witnessing Akiba jumping around, chanting down to the audience front and center stage, with the ease and poise of a seasoned performer (who would have guessed that he’s only been in the entertainment arena a couple years).

Akiba expresses the ability of an astute performer, feeling his audience. This was evident in the way he connected with them and their enthusiastic response towards him. He is skilled in switching from playful chanting to wicked hype in the blink of an eye. It was very interesting to watch his performance coupled with the playful antics of his father (the smoother crooner Grasshopper) together they had the audience hyped and obviously overjoyed by their performance, so much so, the audience was not wanting to leave the Venue (Flamingo Cantina)! Begging for one more song.

Can you see my point, Akiba is definitely not sleeping, yet they call him Mr. Snooze! Akiba is definitely a full package, he has the look, he has the style, he has the Chant and he is a Vision! Inner Visions powerful, powerful, powerful. Keep a watch you Beenie Man’s and Vybz Kartel’s of the world, there is a new powerhouse on the Reggae Circuit he goes by the name of “Mr. Snooze” that’s Akiba Pickering to you guy’s darling! Moreover, he is not sleeping.
