Category: Islands
Antigua is part of the Leeward Islands and is the main island of the country of Antigua and Barbuda.
The island's name is Spanish for "ancient" in Spanish; Christopher Columbus named it for a relic found in Seville Cathedral, Santa Maria de la Antigua, or St. Mary the Ancient. The island enjoys a well-developed domestic agricultural community.
