Cuba is an independent country, actually the Republic of Cuba. It contains the main island of Cuba, the Isla de la Juventud, and several small island chains.

Cuba became independent of the United States of America in 1902 and is the most well-populated island nation, with a 99+% literacy rate and respectable life expectancy of approximately 77 years. It is believed that the name "Cuba" comes from a Taino word for "place of fertile lands".
