Cayman Islands
Category: Islands
The Cayman Islands are actually three: Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac, and Little Cayman. They are located south of Cuba in the Western Caribbean. The islands are a major financial center.
The Cayman Islands are part of the British Overseas Territories; while Christopher Columbus first named the islands for their large tortoises (Las Tortugas), Sir Francis Drake ended up giving the islands their present name, after the local alligators (Caimans, a Taino word).
