Tabanka Caribbean Dance EnsembleCaribia is for everyone!  In chilly Norway, the Tabanka African and Caribbean Peoples Dance Ensemble is true proof. 

The African Diaspora was flung far and wide, as seeds to many fertile grounds.  From these roots come dance styles such as Soca, Bachata, Tambu, Canboulay, Quadrille, Capoeira, and so many more.  Such a plethora of movement from a diverse people sprung from Mama Africa!

Artistic Director, Dancer and Choreographer Thomas Talawa Prestø, began the troupe with the idea of sharing the roots and culture of Caribbean dance arund the world. A unique fusion of traditional and modern vibrations fuel lively performances and thrill audiences everywhere. Among several objectives of the Tabanka African and Caribbean Peoples Dance Ensemble is to train, educate and enlighten to the significance of the art form.  The group hopes by its passionate practice, that the world will see this authentic expression as worthy amongst the finest of arts.

Becoming a member of the group is more than the opportunity to showcase talent, but it is a chance to contribute to the world in a larger way, starting with the communities in which we all live.
