Caribbean Health Focuses on Regional Issues

by Anita Davis

Cambridge, U.K.: Caribbean Health is a medical journal that has been distributed to select professionals throughout the Caribbean since April 1998. The journal seeks to provide information on the latest products, services and techniques being explored in the industry. Citing a relative lack of participation by the publishers of medical journals, Havas MediMedia (parent company of Caribbean Health) took the step of reaching out to the Caribbean. Within its first year, Caribbean Health received a glowing 61% 'Excellent' rating from its readers, with 37% stating that they found the publication 'Good'. With faithful readership now from Jamaica to Trinidad and Tobago, Caribbean Health shows no signs of slowing down.

Among the highlights in Caribbean Health: A comprehensive, 3-page look at the region's healthcare issues, new developments in the Caribbean (compiled by the British Virgin Islands office), a series of Medical Digests (internationally promulgated papers in summary form), the Clinical Review (medical news from a Caribbean perspective), and the Clinical Quiz (fictional scenarios that mimic real-life medical episodes). Residents of the Caribbean who are medical professionals could qualify for a complimentary issue; other regions are subject to subscription fee.
