New Jersey, August 15, 2006: A legend in the world of Caribbean music & entertainment will be performing in Somerset, New Jersey on Labor Day Saturday. Byron Lee & The Dragonaires, one of the Caribbean’s most recognized show bands will be delivering another pulsating, crowd pleasing performance for one night only at the Ukrainian Cultural Center, located at 135 Davidson Avenue, Somerset, New Jersey, 08831 on Saturday September 2, 2006.
Byron Lee & The Dragonaires has released a commemorative collection triple CD set called, Music That Memories Are Made Of, in celebration of his 50th anniversary just in time for Caribbean Night. Winner of more than 150 awards including those which Byron says he treasures the most:
Order Of Distinction bestowed by the Government of Jamaica.
UNICEF United Nations for promoting Caribbean Music.
Mayor of Trinidad for promoting Soca Music worldwide.
Mayor of Guyana making him an honorary citizen.
No other band including the “Rolling Stones” has survived 50 years and is still going strong. The man who has done so much for Caribbean Music says, “I am honored to have chosen a profession that brought joy and happiness not only to Caribbean people but the entire world.”
According to the promoter, Noel LaBennett, Byron Lee & The Dragonaires has always been one of the biggest live draws in the Caribbean and he anticipates a good turn out because B.L. & D. has not been in New Jersey since 2003. In addition, Byron has a well rehearsed plan to excite all of his fans with non-stop live music and entertainment in celebration of his 50th.
LaBennett, who grew up in the world of musical production and promotion has been staging grand Caribbean Dances in New Jersey for a number of years now. “Party-goers love the pulsating rhythms of Caribbean music and “The Dragon” is back to deliver a memorable show as usual. You can expect to be pleasantly surprised. Return Of The Dragon is the Labor Day party you should experience. See you there.”
