Atlanta, GA – October 12, 2005: The Antigua and Barbuda Association of Georgia, Inc. announces their 2nd annual Independence Banquet. The event is slated for Saturday, October 29, 2005 at the Omega World Center at 3951 Snapfinger Parkway, in Decatur, Georgia. The group will also host an Independence Food Festival on Saturday, October 22, 2005 beginning at 2:00 p.m. at 5585 Rockbridge Road in Stone Mountain, Georgia.
For the banquet, cocktails begin at 7 p.m., with dinner and fine dining at 8:30 p.m. The banquet is an annual fundraiser to assist with educational projects in Antigua and Barbuda.
The seeds of the Antigua and Barbuda Association of Georgia, Inc. were planted in 2003, at a Family Fun Day with the ultimate goal: “For the expressed purpose of creating and maintaining a viable network of its citizens in the State of Georgia, and elsewhere in North America, to encourage and maintain the cultural practices of Antigua and Barbuda among its members and to establish and maintain links with appropriate organizations in the nation of Antigua and Barbuda”.
Among the activities of the group are: Family Fun Day, Independence Banquet and Church Service, participation in the Atlanta Peach Carnival, holiday Caroling Nights, and various civic responsibilities on behalf of the people of Antigua and Barbuda wherever they reside.
